Being fearful of the dentist is also known as dentophobia or dental anxiety. Fear of the dentist, or rather for the treatment itself, is very common and also very understandable. However, as in most cases, fear is a poor counsellor. People who suffer from dental anxiety are often tempted to postpone their periodic dental check-ups out of a fear for pain. Unfortunately this does mean that when you start experiencing pain and decide to visit the dentist, it’s often much worse than if you went to your periodic dental check-ups. Pain is more often than not an indicator of a larger cavity or infection, which requires more treatment.
At PHP dentists we pride ourselves in seeing more than just your mouth. By listening and taking the time to talk to you, we do all we can to make you feel at home and at ease. By doing so we hope to gradually take away your dental anxiety. Even when you have to undergo treatment, you won’t have to be in any discomfort. The dentist will explain the procedure to you and then inject the anaesthesia. And even this can be completely free of pain as it is possible to numb the area of injection so you will not feel any sting when the anaesthesia is injected.
If you suffer from dental anxiety then please inform us when making an appointment. This allows us to ensure that there is plenty of time booked for your treatment and we can do everything we can to make the experience as comfortable as possible for you.
Our dental practice, named after the delightful square it’s located at (Prins HendrikPlein), is open six days a week from Monday till Saturday, 8:30 – 17:00.
